Part of my job with couchsurfing is to write posts for the CouchSurfing collective blog. You can read the stuff I am posting there at http://blog.couchsurfing.com.
Everything is going well here, and I found a way to make some cash as well. Once a week I am cutting a guy’s yard, and this morning Andrew and I cleaned and painted a giant fishing schooner down by the wharfs. I got to use a small flame thrower to burn the old paint off and dry the hull out before we coated it with new paint. Pretty awesome.
Tags: Alaska, fishingJames Stevens, of the Dunwoody Crier, recently published an article on my travels in Asia. I want to thank him for writing the story, which I was not expecting at all when I left for my trip.
There are some easy ways to find post about my trip to Asia. At the bottom of this page are links to the most commented articles, and on the side bar there are links to different categories. Click on a country to see all the posts from that country.
I am currently in Alaska, working for CouchSurfing.com and will be here for the rest of the summer! Enjoy looking around the blog!
I have arrived in Homer, Alaska and it is everything I thought it could be. More probably. I ended up surfing at a house in Anchorage with my buddy Travis who I climbed with in Ton Sai, Thailand. The next day I met up with some of the other collective participants and drove down to Homer. I drove the first part of the trip, and guy named Andrew who I had also met in Thailand drove the rest of the way. We stopped off at a little pizza joint on the way down for dinner, and Cameron and I walked into a bar where we were astounded by the crowded interior. The headline man/band was called Hobo Jim, and he was amazing. We sat for a beer and a few songs, ending with the National Anthem. The whole bar participated, men, women and children all.
I have just finished making the new Farr Associates site live. It is a project I have been working on for the past two weeks or so that I have been hanging around Atlanta. Still have a few tweaks to work out, but I am proud of it, and it helps with some greatly needed financial assitance for Alaska. Just in time too.
